Business Travel

Business travel emissions encompass the greenhouse gas emissions from transportation used by employees for work-related purposes. This category excludes commutes between home and work, which are reported under "Employee Commuting." Business travel includes emissions from various modes of transportation such as planes, trains, cars, and other vehicles used for attending meetings, conferences, and business events.

Where to Find the Data?

Companies can collect data for business travel emissions from a variety of sources:

  • Accounting and/or ERP Systems: Look for expenses categorized under business travel.

  • Travel Management Systems: Organizations using travel management systems or travel agencies can often access detailed trip data, including price, mode of transportation, distance, and estimated emissions.

  • Expense Reports: Employees' submitted expense reports provide valuable insights into the nature and extent of travel undertaken.

  • Corporate Credit Card Statements: These can help identify travel-related expenses and activities.
